Charlotte Howell was born in Santa Rosa, California and grew up in Santa Cruz, California. She married George Horace Howell in 1939. They moved to Los Angeles in 1944 when George, a finance officer, was transferred to the 9th corps area headquarters.
Charlotte was a secretary for 50 years, many of which were spent with the Los Angeles County Board of Education. She was active in the Democratic party and a volunteer for many good causes, including the Peace Corps. She belonged to All Saints Church of Pasadena.
Her beloved son Bernard "Bernie" George Howell graduated from UC Berkeley and Hastings College of Law. Sadly he passed away in 1972 after a battle with cancer.
Charlotte is survived by her nieces Cleo Capo (Buck), Monica Maxfield, and Carrie Tarplett (David); her nephews Neil Fowler (Faye), and Michael Ossipoff; her grandnieces Valerie Cauley (Ken), Heidi Connolly (Joe), and Cleo White (Bob); her grandnephew Samuel Maggi (Erica); and her cousins Sheila Kelly and Sylvia Scott.
A funeral service in memory of Charlotte will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 27th at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Hollywood, California where she will be laid to rest near her son Bernie.
In lieu of flowers, it was Charlotte's wish that donations be made to the Salvation Army.
