Claire Kelley (Pearson) Jacoby, 101, of Soquel/Santa Cruz, CA, died June 6, 2014. Born Janet Claire Kelley to Frank H. and Claire Parmelee Kelley on May 27, 1913 in San Diego, CA, Claire lived a full life and at her death was surrounded by family and friends through the miracle of technology and social networking. Her first husband, Joe S. Pearson, died in 1950, and her second husband, Perry E. Jacoby, died in 1992. She lived in many cities including Seattle, WA; Honolulu, HI; Anchorage, AK; and in San Diego, Menlo Park, San Jose and Soquel, CA. All who knew her through her long life loved Claire's kind and giving nature, marvelous smile and ability to find something interesting in every person. She lived to see the birth of seven great grandchildren from 18 years to 6 weeks, events in which she took great interest and joy. She is survived by her son, Charles Pearson and his wife (Josie), their son Joseph Pearson (Cathy), their daughter Elizabeth Loomis (Chris); her daughter, Pam and Mo Mathews, Pam's daughters Claire Louder (David) and Anne McGrath (Max); her daughter Barbara and John Meyer and their children Chris and Heidi Meyer. She is also survived by her younger brother Archie Kelley and her sister Patricia Kelley Heazlitt. Claire loved to follow politics and on her recent birthday was discussing the upcoming California Primary. Her self-described career was as a housewife and volunteer though she had a degree in Social Work from the University of Washington. She spent many years volunteering for her church Altar Guild where her greatest joy was arranging altar flowers. She was a 75 year member of Kappa Alpha Theta, Alpha Lambda Chapter and supported many causes throughout her life.
