Gerald "Jerry" Todd left this earthly life on Feb 4, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was born on Dec 7, 1931 in Kendrick, CO. As a teenager he joined the Navy and while stationed outside Sebastapol, CA met his wife of almost 62 years, Alice" Janine" McGuire, where she was spending the summer working the apple orchards of her grandparents. He proudly served on the USS Chouree in the Korean War. He learned the trade of HVAC sheet metal contractor while living in Santa Rosa, CA.
He moved his family to Santa Cruz in 1968 when he purchased Bogner Sheet Metal. He was very proud to have two son-in-laws and a grandson follow him into the same trade. Jerry retired to Portola, CA where he continued to work with sheet metal. He enjoyed fishing, snow mobiling, riding his quad and his antique cars. He was very involved in Rotary International and served as President of his club in two different districts. As president of the Santa Cruz Rotary Club he created the Santa Cruz Sunrise Rotary Club. He is survived by his wife, Alice "Janine" Todd, daughters, Janine (Bob) Ciapponi, Janice (Phil) Allegri, Colleen (Jim) Kennedy, grandchildren Michael (Kari) Allegri, Nick (Shawna) Allegri, Katrina Ciapponi, Keith Ciapponi, Katherine Ciapponi, Laurie Kennedy and Bud Kennedy, great grandsons Robby and Riley Allegri and Kai Ciapponi, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on March 1 at the SC Elks, 150 Jewell St. at 1 pm. In Lieu of flowers donations are preferred to the Rotary Endowment fund of Portola, PO Box 1121, Portola, CA 96122.
