Gloria Seneres(1925 - 2012)

Gloria Benedetti Seneres Sept 26, 1925-Nov 18, 2012 Resident of Ben Lomond Gloria Benedetti Seneres was born on September 26, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York. Died November 18, 2012. Prospect Heights High School; Class of 1942. Cooper Union from 1944 to 1948, graduating with honors in painting. 1949 studied in Paris with Fernando Leger. In 1951 for 7 months toured on bicycles with her husband John, visiting 11 countries. New York University in 1952 and graduated in 1961 with a Bachelors Science in Art Education. Moved to Mexico in 1961 for 8 years. 1967 took her two children on a world tour distributing her art in Japan, London, Paris, and Rome. Worked in 20 different venues as an art teacher. In 1969 moved to Kenya and taught Arts and Crafts, Junior Dramatic Society at Kenya High School. A humanist, supporter of a Kenyan orphanage, a poet, a youth hosteler, a lover of classical music and the Beatles, animals, film, a cook, politically conscious. Traveled to Cuba, later to 18 countries. Built her home with an all woman's crew. had a Gallery in New york, Seneres on Sixth. Her artistic poweress, entailed 120 group shows. She had 18 one-woman exhibitions. Painting, ink drawing, life drawings, sculpture from clay, wood, bronze, paper making, jewelry, designing leather handbags, flower arrangements.
