Marsha Earlaine Paden Nord
September 24, 1957 - March 11, 2018
Resident of Boulder Creek
On Sunday morning of March 11, Marsha Earlaine Paden Nord began her Sunday as she did most weekends for the past 30 years by going for a morning walk in her Boulder Creek neighborhood. Free of distractions, she used this time to take in the beautiful redwoods and plan her day, which usually involved a phone calls to her kids, trips around town, watching a Giants game and if she was lucky, have a glass of wine or two on the front porch with friends.
Sadly, she wouldn't make it home that day. During her walk that Sunday, Marsha was tragically struck by a drunk driver and killed instantly. She was 60 years old.
Marsha was born in San Francisco on September 24, 1957 to Earl and Lorraine Paden. She was the youngest of three sisters. She resided in San Francisco and in various locations in the Bay Area until making the move to Boulder Creek in 1987, shortly after getting married to Thomas, her loving husband of 31 years.
Marsha loved her job as a legal secretary, and worked in law offices in the Bay Area for more than 40 years. At the time of her passing, she was an employee of Bowman & Brooke LLP in San Jose, Ca. where she worked for 13 years. She was very happy there and with all the people she worked with and it carried over into her personal life. She was a joy to be with.
She was a proud member of the Santa Cruz Blue Star Moms supporting our Armed forces. She joined as soon as her son, Arne, enlisted with the Marines in 2010. She continued her volunteerism serving Veterans with her Blue Star sisters, even after Arne had completed his service. She was always eager with her volunteer efforts throughout her life.
Marsha was a ray of sunshine who connected to people with her wit, humor and generosity. She never missed an opportunity to make people laugh. She was a loving mother and wife, who brought us so much joy through the years with scrabble tournaments, dance parties, Giants games, girls weekends away and funny stories accompanied with big hand gestures. She enjoyed reading novels and Sunday newspaper crosswords.
Marsha is survived by her husband, Tom, 62, daughter Emily, 29, son Arne, 26, and daughter- in-law Ronda, 23.
Marsha is preceded in death by parents Earl and Lorraine Paden of San Francisco, and sisters Sharon Wissel of Manteca, and Kathy Gunter of West Point.
A service will be held on Saturday, April 28 at 11:00am at St. Michael's Catholic Church,13005 Pine St, Boulder Creek.
A Celebration of Life at the Boulder Creek Country Club will follow the service at, 16901 Big Basin Hwy. Boulder Creek. In keeping with Marsha's playful spirit, we are asking friends and family attending to bring their favorite Giants attire to wear at the reception. She was a lifetime fan of S.F. Giants Baseball and S.F 49er Football.

So Sorry for your loss. I recently re-connected with Marsha at last years GWA.
I met Marsha and her buddy Terry, thru Patty way back during the early 80's when a large group of us would go on an annual pilgrimage to Lake Shasta and spend the entire Memorial Day Weekend on a rented houseboat. Great times with Wonderful memories. She was a beautiful light and brought smiles to everyone who was fortunate to have known her. She will be dearly missed!
