Izetta Schneider Obituary

Izetta B. (nee Whyte) Schneider
May 17, 1929 - March 30, 2015
Boulder, CO
Izetta B. (nee Whyte) Schneider was born May 17, 1929 in Butte, Montana. She was the only child of Fern Whyte. She graduated from Butte High in Butte, Montana in 1947, and then graduated from the nursing program at Carroll College in Helena Montana in 1950.
She then moved to Los Angeles, California where she married Robert J. Schneider (now of San Jose, CA) on June 6, 1952. She was a R.N. for most of her long life while raising nine children – Christine Henze (John) of Parker, CO; Jane A. Milliff (Ralph) of Boulder, CO; Barbara A. Schneider (Jim) of Seattle, WA; Constance S. Walker of Lafayette, CA; M. Joseph Schneider (Kim) of Arnold, MD; Robert S. Schneider of Santa Cruz, CA; Nicholas J. Schneider (Amy) of Santa Barbara, CA; Lisa M. McMillan (Mike) of Santa Cruz, CA; and Jenny E. Putney (Jeff) of Santa Cruz, CA. She also had 15 grandchildren – Connor Milliff (deceased), Kyle Schatzel, Sarah Clement, Aidan Milliff, Molly Henze, Mary Cait Milliff, Kassey Schneider, John Schneider, Christopher Henze, Gregory McMillan, Steven Schneider, Clare Schneider, William Schneider, Callie Putney and Braden Putney. She loved her grandchildren even more than her children – which wasn't hard to do if you knew her children even slightly.
Although not a military wife, she moved around like one – Los Angeles, Pueblo, CO, Butte, MT, Anaconda, MT, Concord, CA, Oakland, CA, Salinas, CA and San Jose, CA. In her later life, she moved to Watsonville, CA (she loved the beach – where her ashes will be scattered), and finally lived with her daughter Jane and son-in-law Ralph (and their two children) in Boulder CO where she died on March 30, 2015. In lieu of flowers, you can send charitable contributions to Golden West Retirement Community of 1055 Adams Circle, Boulder, CO 80303 where she lived the last few years of her life.
She was a small town, shy girl overly imbued with the idea of sacrifice. She always, to her own detriment at times, thought of other people, especially her children, before herself. She was an only child of uncertain heritage and uncertain of herself in this wide world. Thus, she made few friends; but those friends that she did make were fiercely loyal and protective of her and her friendship. She was hard to get to know, but if you were fortunate enough to do so, she loved you endlessly. Clearly, it was quality not quantity that made her life special.
She did not know the meaning of the words rest and relax – they were foreign concepts to her. She was a simple person with simple tastes – family, grandchildren, cinnamon roll, and a day at the beach – and she was satisfied. It all came back to family and friends with her. She thought so well of, and did so well by, her family because she thought so rarely of herself. We love you mom.

Mom, I miss you so much! Many times throughout the past few years I have thought of you and sometimes feel your presence strongly. I hope the training is not too difficult and that you are reading the "book" I left with you. Love you so much!

Although I never knew this lady, I feel like I do reading the remembrance. Knowing Lisa, I know Izetta was a special mother because her daughter is. Remember all the good times as this sad time will pass.
