Anthony Phillips Obituary
Resident of Santa Cruz
Services will be Sunday, Jan. 27th for Anthony "Tony" Ralph Phillips who passed to be with the Lord on Saturday due to complications from heart failure. Tony's friendly spirit and humor will be missed by his family and many friends.
Tony was born in Hollywood, California. He worked as a paperboy in Hollywood before moving to Santa Cruz County in 1960. Tony graduated from Watsonville High School in 1966 and was MVP of the WHS Swim Team. He started as a car detailer at Moriarty Chevrolet and was promoted to parts and eventually the service department. He then worked at the Prolo Chevrolet dealership in Santa Cruz, working there until starting his insurance career with Allstate. He spent 29 years serving his insurance customers before retiring in 2001.
Tony was an avid car enthusiast. He was a member and officer of the Model A Club of America. Tony and his wife, Chris, loved to spend time building and creating things together as well as taking long drives along the coast.
Tony is survived by his best friend and wife of 46 years, Christina "Chris" Phillips. He is also survived by his son Sean Phillips, daughter-in-law Lauri and grandchildren Dawson, Walker and Audrey of Oakhurst, Ca. and his daughter Jeannette, son-in law Ron MacCracken and grandson Connor of Willow Glen, CA. Tony is also survived by his sister Debra Sundberg of Washington State and brother Marshall Phillips of Santa Cruz, Ca.
Memorial services for Tony will be held on Sunday, January 27th at 2:00 p.m.2013 at Twin Lakes Church, 2701 Cabrillo College Dr., Aptos, Ca.
Tony had a special affinity for helping meet the needs of children in Africa, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Hope+ Africa, New Beginnings Church-Missions

Tony had a great sense of humor about many of the difficult parts of his life and his heart condition. This ability was grounded in his deep faith in God.
We were not surprised that he was so close to so many of his insurance customers when he sold us the business.
We will miss him very much and send our prayers and condolences to Chris and the family.

Tony,
We will miss you and your infectious smile, love of family, quick wit, master barbequing skills, hospitality, wealth of knowledge on so many things (woodworking, landscaping, cars, the list goes on and on). Thank you for sharing your time and generosity with all of us. We know your beautiful family has so many cherished memories to hold on to and we hope those memories will help in time, to ease their sorrow.
