Frances Cobos Obituary

Frances Cobos
Aug. 21, 1945 - Dec. 19, 2012
Santa Cruz
Fran was born on August 21, 1945 in the State of Oregon. In 1956 her family moved to Watsonville, CA. She attended Freedom Elementary School and Watsonville High. In 1963 she met the love of her life and spent each and every moment with her Angel. They were married in 1964 and moved from Watsonville to Santa Cruz in 1965. They have resided here ever since.
At the age of 17 she began her long lasting work ethic. She started at the Green Giant Canning Company in Watsonville. She took a leave of absence to start her family. In 1979 she began working at the Lipton Tea Company here in Santa Cruz. She worked there for 25 years and retired before the plant closed. Fran had long lasting friendships and would tell anyone who would listen about her Grandchildren her "babies" Shane, Aleah, Lily, CJ and Alisa they were her pride and joy.
Camping, fishing and gatherings at the park for family functions were memorable for all of us. Traveling after her retirement was something she really enjoyed; however one of her favorite sayings is 'why do I need to go anywhere when I live in paradise with my own beach front?' She loved visiting her family and friends and a quick stop at the nearest casino.
She is survived by her lifelong partner Angel Cobos her children Angelina Cobos Bingham, Suzanne Cobos Fields, and Angel Cobos Jr. Other survivors include her Mother Frances Garcia, her siblings Pat Velarde, Caroline Navarro, Catherine Martinez, Gerald Martinez, Laura Chavez, Debbie Martinez, Joey Orazco and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her Father Bill Martinez, Brother Billy and Sister Barbara.
Services will be Friday December 28, 2012 at 11 am at Oakwood Memorial Chapel 3301 Paul Sweet Road in Santa Cruz.

My condolences to the Cobos Family. I did not know Frances well, but I do remember that she was a very kind person, and always had that smile on her face whenever she welcomed me into her home. What a perfect picture!

Sue, Angie, Chino and Uncle, I am so sorry for your loss. I am not sure it is even real to me yet. You could not have picked a more perfect picture - whenever I think of your mom I picture her laughing. :) My thoughts and prayers are with you. Paco
