Fred Becker was born on August 28,1924 and left this earth on August 19th, 2012. He was born in Bessemer, Michigan and grew up in Keewatin, Minnesota. He worked all of his life with food and people- as a grocery clerk as a teen, as a cook in the Marines in World War II and as a sales rep selling bakery products. His work took him from Minnesota to Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Florida and the Caribbean. He loved story telling, wood-working, cooking holiday dinners, public speaking, traveling by car across the U.S. and being a clown at children's parties. In 2008, he and his wife of 64 years, Cleo, settled in Watsonville. He will be remembered for his exuberant and affectionate spirit.
He is survived by his wife Cleo, son, Richard Becker, daughter, Donna Becker and Gary Merrill her husband, grandchildren, Matt Merrill and Katie Merrill and great granddaughter Siena Merrill as well as his sister Florence Norby and nieces and nephews.
