Fred Faucher Obituary

Fred L. Faucher
Oct 6, 1917 - Sept 18, 2012
A Resident of Soquel

Fred L Faucher, 95, was a special and dynamic person. Raised in California, he spent most of his life in Santa Cruz County. He grew up in Soquel, way back up Porter Gulch, during the Great Depression. He was the oldest of four siblings, and always had interesting times with his younger sisters, Norma, Lorraine and Elewise. He had to be "the man" when his father Bert was away from the household. Fred loved the outdoors and walked 5 miles round trip to Soquel Elementary School enjoying the wildlife along the way. After learning to drive a model A he went to Santa Cruz High where he played football.
He learned how to build homes with his father and later became a contractor in Santa Cruz County. Many of these homes are still standing today. Later in life he joined the Navy and was stationed in San Diego. While on leave to Santa Cruz he met the love of his life, Constance, at the Boardwalk. They waited until after the war was over to start a family, having two boys in Santa Clara Valley. He continued construction until he started working for a new comer to the valley, IBM, in S.J. and Los Gatos.
He retired at 55 and enjoyed traveling and boating with his beloved family all over North America, mostly to the National Parks. Fred also loved to take long ocean cruises and he'd always say "I just want to take one more cruise before I die". He and Connie had enjoyed 17 voyages. He was involved locally with St. Joseph's Church and the Mid-County Senior Center and always had projects or helped his close friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Constance, almost 98, and his two sons, Bert and Bob, his granddaughter, Cyrena, and three great grandchildren. May he rest in peace, after a long illness, He has met his Maker.
Catholic blessing services will be held at Santa Cruz Memorial Mission Chapel, 1927 Ocean Street on Saturday, Sept 22, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with visitation for family and friends from 8 to 11 AM. Entombment will follow in Santa Cruz Memorial Park Mausoleum. I only had the honor of Fred and Connie's company two times through family events. I still hold the impression of what a fine gentleman he was in my mind. He will be missed.

I had two of the most unique and talented Uncles of any of my friends. One did magic and collected almost everything, and the other could build almost anything. I bragged about them constantly.
Those times, Uncle Fred, when you were there for me at the hospital, just you and I, those were the times when I knew all was healed.
"I'm doin' pretty good, for an old guy." Goodnight, sweet Uncle, give our love to those who've gone before.

At this time of sorrow,
may these truths sustain you...
Your loved one will always
be as close as a memory,
and the God of all comfort
will always be as
close as a prayer.
Only one thing surer than Gods plan for each of us for the life we lived is the bond of family, through life and into death our families are who will remember us and the deeds of our life.
Peace be with you and the family at this time . Above anyone or anything I send a Huge Hug and kiss for my Aunt Connie and ask God to embrace her at this time <3
