Gerry was an amazing person, full of promise, full of life, a keen sense of humor and a twinkle in his eye. I'll never forget you, Gerry, you were one of the best. It was a privilege working with you and your dad.

Our hearts ache for your tremendous loss of your dear, Gerry. Know that numerous people are praying for you. The legacy that Gerry left behind is an inspiration to all. If we can all approach life with the same propensity of energy, enthusiasm, intensity, perseverance, service, spirit, and vigor as Gerry, we will leave this earth a better place than we found it. Gerry sure did!!! ... and he will be sorely missed!!! All our love,

I was deeply saddened to hear about the sudden passing of Gerry. I will always remember Gerry, and feel very fortunate to have known him, if only for a brief period of time. His independence and drive were admirable qualities in a boy so young. I will miss his mischievous grin and sparkling eyes, as he devised a way to sidetrack our algebra lesson.

I'm so saddened to hear this! I met Gerry when he was a new student in 2nd grade at Vine Hill. He was from the same town my family is from, so we had a connection. So very shocked to hear that he is no longer with us!

What a smile he gave to us, he had so much energy. It is one of my fondest memories of coaching Little League - sitting down to lunch with Gerry and his dad at Chubby's to talk about how he could be a better teammate, and elevate everyone around him. Gerry took that talk to heart when many kids might not have. He really made the effort to be better, and that is all you can ask of any person. His efforts encouraged me and many others. I am sad for his family, and all of us who will not know him more in this life. I am glad to know that he knew Jesus, that he is home, and that we will see him again. John 16:33

I am so sorry to hear of Gerry's passing. He was such a strong, self-sufficient, independent young man. He was a good friend to many and could make you laugh so easily. Despite our challenges together at times, he still often stopped by the middle school office, smile on his face, just to check in and say hello-always kind and polite. He will be missed!

Where to begin - little Gerry... He was a part of our neighborhood since I think 2005. Our neighborhood in Scotts Valley is small and the kids are close knit and become very much like siblings. In the beginning, he was "Gerry" - kind of pain in the neck. But over the years, he got under our skin and I think deep down, everyone had a tender spot in their hearts for Gerry. All the kids have such hilarious Gerry stories - and the outpouring of kind facebook messages about him made me realize SV was his home and he'd touched so many lives. I personally became much closer with him after he'd moved to his new school in Texas. He'd changed - he had focus and a plan and was proud of himself - he was gaining new friends and new confidence. His faith was important to him and he had made good friends in his church group and his new school. We'd often chat at dinner time on facebook - talking about all the neighborhood kids and what I was making for dinner and all the usual things teens like to talk about. He had some good advice for me when I was expressing frustration with my own teen boys. I had grown to like him very much and I was looking forward to seeing how this boy, in particular, would turn out. We were proud of him - we let him know. I'm glad for those little chats and our connection. Our family and the neighborhood and the town - and his other homes in various places like Texas, Colorado and Missouri - people in all these places will undoubtedly miss his unique presence and spirit. We won't forget you, Gerry. With love, The Rockow Family, Gary, Laura, Julie, Evan, Owen and Cal

Little Gerry was such a special kid, almost always had a smile on his face either cause he was happy, or had a secret. He had that twinkle in his eye for sure. Wasn't shy with anybody, anywhere. He was a very hard worker, and not afraid to jump in and help take things apart, and could usually get them back together. Plenty energy, all the time. Not afraid to work hard to get ready for any of his sports adventures. There were plenty of projects he would work on, come up an ask, " Do you think it work if I put these 3 things together, or "How does this work" much different than many kids his age. He had a playful side that was all boy, not afraid to jump a bike(break an arm), jump in a creek(get soaking wet sneak home change), climb a tree(fall out of the tree) that he could pull off different than other kids. He would never give up, or slow down....

Little Gerry had grown a lot over the years and was no longer that little kid, but becoming a man.

I am deeply saddened by the recent events that took Gerry from this earth, and know that someday, we will meet again. I will always remember Little Gerry, and sad I wont know him as the man he had grown into.

To Big Gerry, Allison, and all his family you should be very proud of that young man, as he was a good guy for sure, and will be missed. You are in our prayers.

Godspeed Little G.

Gerry,

I am so sorry for your loss..I was so sad when I heard this terrible news.

Gerry was such a wonderful young man.

I really enjoyed getting to know him when I worked with you at Expertech.

He was so sweet.

I would always look forward to him coming to the office each week, he always wanted me to help him get into the big empty wooden crates or large open boxes to hide from you when you would come back to my area.

He had so much fun building ramps and playing with the remote control truck I brought to work for him to pass the time.

He loved to do silly things, and was so creative to keep himself busy at the office waiting for you to take him home, or to practice.

I will always remember his sweet smile and the fun times we had together.

May there be comfort in knowing that someone so special will never be forgotten.

Gerry Jr was the cutest thing on the planet! I would look forward to him coming into the office here at work and telling me about girls, his guitar and football, or he would show me the things he was making in the shop. He was such a bright spot here in the workplace and always a gentleman.

There are no words to express how heavy my heart feels. May the Lord be with you all during this time of sorrow. You are all in my prayers. May the one you watched over and loved so much be the angel that now watches over you. God bless,

My daughter Jordyn met Julien at camp this summer. They hit it off right away and have been texting all summer. My daughter is very shy and quiet. The fact that they had such a connection so fast says amazing things about your son. She grew to care very much for him. From what I have read and what she has told me, he sounds like he was an extremely wonderful person. I can't imagine your pain, but I know Jordyn is really missing him. You are in our prayers, and he will be remembered always.

When the young man got in my car for transportation to and from the Soup Kitchen at St. Elizabeth's on Saturday, he told me his name was Julien. I replied by telling him that he was a read “Gem” for volunteering his time on a Saturday instead of sleeping in like most teens. Gerard touched my life for the span of maybe an hour that day, but he made an impression on me and I will remember him always in my prayers.
