Guadalupe Ramirez

Guadalupe Ramirez Resident of Watsonville Died July 23, 2013, in her daughter's home in Watsonville, surrounded by her family. She was 88. She was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, to Ignacio Ornelas and Margarita Velasquez de Ornelas on December 14, 1924. Mrs. Ramirez has lived in Watsonville since the family emigrated from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, in June 1958. Along with raising nine children, she worked alongside her husband, Javier, farming for 30 years. They raised both row crops and flowers. Mrs. Ramirez was a great cook, prolific crocheter, able gardener, and a friend to many. Mrs. Ramirez leaves her children, Javier (Elvia) Ramirez, Rosalba Chavez, Lupe (Jesus) Flores, Fernando (Carmen) Ramirez, Martha Ramirez (Benjamin Saunders) Ruth Rodriguez, Teresa Rodriguez, Ana (Alfred) Rodriguez and John Ramirez; 22 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Javier, in August, 2010, and her sister, Victoriana Concepcion Ornelas Velasquez. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a vigil and rosary service at 7:00 p.m. at Mehl's Colonial Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, 10:00 a.m., at St. Patrick's Church. Burial will follow at Watsonville Catholic Cemetery.
