Joanne Grooney Obituary

Resident of Aptos
Joanne passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve following recent health complications.
Joanne was born in Glendale, CA, and moved to Aptos in 1964 with her beloved family. A dedicated wife and mother, she was also involved as a 4H leader where she taught cooking classes. One of her greatest passions and talents was crafting beautiful ceramic pieces of art. She was an active member of her church, and knew Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. Joanne was a gifted listener, had an open heart to all walks of life, and was a perfect example of what others aspired to be. The love for her family was always the most important factor in her life.
Joanne is survived by her husband, George Grooney of 58 years; her children: Georgia and Keith Darbyshire, and Cynthia Grooney; her grandchildren: Michael, Ryan, Nicole, Nicholas, Tyler, Kevin, Kaden, Jamin, Tootie, Jenna, and Naomi; and her great grandchildren: Nicholas, Makayla, Maverick, Julian, Riley, Ivy, and Avery. She joins her parents, Fred and Irene Storm, sister, Dolores Coffelt, and many family and friends in heaven.
A memorial service will be held at SC Bible Church Adult Center on Sat., January 5th, 2013, at 2pm.

So many memories of all of you. I have been in Santa Fe close to Muffie for almost 3 years now - I came for a visit, and never returned. I will always remember my summers in Aptos,learning to sew and cook and run
