Joan MacKenzie passed away at home on Nov. 7, 2012. Joan was born in Boston on Feb. 23, 1921. She moved to Holland, her parent's homeland, in 1931 and lived and attended school there for the next 16 years. When she was just 17 she went into hiding from the Nazi's for 5 years until she became an interpreter for the Allied Forces. She did that for 3 years without pay.
Joan did a great deal of traveling throughout the U.S. and Canada. Her favorite hobbies were to crochet, knit, hike, and bike. She had a great sense of humor and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Chauncey Adelbert MacKenzie; her son, Chauncey Glenn MacKenzie; one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
