Norma Jean Nelson Brown Longtime resident of Aptos Passed away on December 24, 2012. She was 91. Mrs. Brown was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 2, 1921, the 4th daughter of Ralph Nelson and Henra Nielson Nelson. From 1943-1955 she was married to Richard Walkup and together they became the proud parents of 2 daughters and a son. On June 2, 1961 she married Myron Brown, a WWII U.S. Army veteran. Mrs. Brown worked as an accountant for the San Lorenzo Valley School District and for Morris Plan Co. of California. She was a talented baker and won many prizes at the Santa Cruz County Fair for her baking skills. She was also an artist and the former President of the Santa Cruz Art League. Mrs. Brown is survived by her children, Malene Stewart of Orem, Utah, Lonnie (John) Hoffseth of Watsonville, and Randolph Walkup of Capitola; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death in by her husband of 47 years, Myron Brown, and her four sisters. A burial service will take place on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 McCabe Road, Gustine, CA. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 3-5 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 255 Holm Road, Watsonville. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to
in Norma's name. Arrangements were entrusted to Mehl's Colonial Chapel, Watsonville.
