Raymond Tripp

Raymond Tripp July 24, 1939~July 4, 2013 Resident of Aromas Raymond Paul Tripp died at home of a heart attack on July 4th. He was almost 74 years old. Ray was born in Ohio to Paul and Helen Tripp and moved to California in 1947. He grew up in the Prunedale area of Salinas. After graduating from Salinas High, he completed his teaching credential at San Jose State. One summer he built a house in Prunedale with his father to pay for his college. He taught science in Happy Camp, California. He taught math and science at Berryessa School in San Jose and Castroville School (where incidentally he attended in 4th and 8th grades). At Echo Valley School he taught at the elementary level. He was an outstanding teacher and loved by his students. As the years passed he taught the children of his former students. When he began teaching their grandchildren, he thought it was time to retire. He remained a teacher all his life, by tutoring individual students in their homes and at the literacy program in Watsonville. He and his wife, RitaAnne, along with his father, Paul, built their home in Aromas 40 years ago. He tried to have a lawn, but the gofers and moles got the best of him. Ray loved to talk politics. His summer vacations included camping and fishing with his family. Ray is survived by his wife, RitaAnne; his daughters, Laura (Boe) Davis, Renee Tripp and his son, Aron (Jennifer) Tripp. He has five grandchildren, Michael and Jake Davis of San Francisco, Nathan Rudeen of Alameda and Hailey and Aiden Tripp of San Jose. Mehl's Colonial Chapel was entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
