Eileen Kogut Obituary
Eileen Kogut
June 5, 1928~Oct. 25, 2017
Resident of Corralitos
Eileen Feconda Kogut passed away in her home on October 25, 2017 surrounded by family and friends.
Born in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, she was the youngest of ten children and the daughter to Italian immigrants, Giuseppina DiMucci Feconda and Angelo Feconda. She survived her beloved husband of fifty years, Val Andrew Kogut.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother of six, and great-grandmother of eight. Eileen was an avid reader. She was fiercely Italian, from her homemade sauce to her God given soul. Her faith was the most important thing in her life. A devotee of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, she was often heard praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet in her sleep.
Nana and Papa's home was always open to others. You were sure to be greeted with fresh pizelles or homemade pies. Making apricot jam was a yearly family tradition.
Soft spoken she was not! Ask her grandkids. Upon announcement of the next wedding, the questions asked were, "Is he Italian? Is he Catholic?"
The Chaplet and Rosary will be held from 3pm-5pm at the residence she shared with her daughter and son-in-law, Valjean and Robin Albright on November 5. The funeral Mass will be celebrated by Fr Paul Mc Donnell on November 6th at 1:00 at the Shrine of St. Joseph Guardian of the Redeemer, 544 West Cliff Dr, Santa Cruz. Reception to follow. Mehl's Colonial Chapel was entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, please contribute to Salesian Scholarship Fund.
