Resident of Capitola
Helen Kane-Anderson, fondly known as Boots, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on the evening of Monday, August 11, 2014 at her home in Santa Cruz at the age of 91.
Born and raised in San Jose, California, Boots received her education from San Jose schools and San Jose State College where she was in a sorority and later became senior class president. She completed graduate work at Mills College and traveled to London, England to attend an education program. Boots taught second grade at Moorpark Elementary in San Jose.
A longtime resident of San Francisco, she was preceded in death by her husband Bob Kane in 1975, with whom she had 2 sons Mark and Barry. Boots later moved to Capitola where she was a devout parishioner of St. Joseph's Catholic Community. She married Frank Anderson in 1990. Mr. Anderson preceded Helen in death in 2003.
Boots had exquisite taste and an appreciation for art and antiques. She treasured all things beautiful, which showed in her elegant home and fashion. She was also well traveled, and visited Europe several times.
Accompanied by her poise and grace Boots had impeccable style and was always dressed to perfection. Family and friends were of paramount importance to Boots, and she will be missed by all who knew her. Wise, kind, generous, thoughtful Boots was cherished for her sweet, polite disposition and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, relative, and friend.
She is survived by her sons Mark (Maureen) and Barry (Anna) and her grandchildren Claire, Mary, and Bobby. A very special thank you is extended to Bill, Buzz, Martha, and all members of the Anderson family whose kindness and loving support are deeply appreciated.
Mass will be held on Monday, August 18, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church (435 Monterey Ave. Capitola) beginning at 11 a.m. She will be laid to rest in a private ceremony beside her late husband, Bob Kane.
