I met Officer Young when I started to work as a Hospitality Guide in the Information Center in 2000. Officer Young was working with the downtown Hosts on Pacific Ave. at the time. He was a huge help to all of us that worked there and a joy when he came into our office just to see how things were going out on the street. He was always there when we needed him. My condolences to the family and the Santa Crus Police Dept. for their loss.

Tom, You were a great person and officer. I will never forget how helpful you were when I was on my first patrol team with you on midnights. You always had a smile, and a great sense of humor. May you rest in peace, my friend

I first met Tom at my first job when I was 14 at the Boardwalk. He was waiting to be accepted to the SCPD. He was the first police officer to pull me over and we had a laugh when he saw it was me. He was a great man and will truly be missed. My absolute condolences to his family.

Julie, Danielle and Dylan, please know that Tom was the consummate police professional, a man of integrity, courage and compassion. I had the great honor of instructing Tom as an FTO, watching him develop into an excellent 'street cop' from his early days until now.
When there was a problem, he was the kind of cop we all wanted as a cover officer: calm, confident, and knowledgeable. You can be very proud of this fine man and his service to our community.
