Thomas Deloy Pratt passed away on January 14, 2013 at his home in Aptos. He was 68 years old. Tom was born in Ohio, to Howard Seneca Pratt and Hilda Bell Pratt and spent his childhood in Lansing, MI and went to high school in Sacramento, CA. He met his wife in Tempe, AZ and has lived in the CA Bay area for over 30 years.
Tom served with the US Air Force during the Vietnam era after which he traveled as an evangelist for several years before serving in a number of ministerial positions in OK, AZ, and CA. Later, Tom earned a number of degrees: Bachelor of Science in Political Science - Arizona State University, Master of Divinity - Fuller Theological Seminary, Master of Sacred Theology - The Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley, Master of Literature - Stirling University, Scotland, Doctor of Philosophy- Hamilton University. He then began his professional career teaching at several Bay area Bible colleges including Bethany College in Scotts Valley.
Since 2005, Tom has been committed to establishing Rhema Bible College in Lautoka, Fiji in association with the Pentecostal Church of Fiji. The college saw its first graduating class in 2009. Tom was a bibliophile and an avid golfer. He was an Ordained Minister, Rhema Ministries of California.
Until recently he was also a member of Seascape Golf Club.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jodi Pratt and one niece, Kandy Weese. Tom was a beloved professor and "Papa" to a number of his students who became his "adopted" children and will miss him terribly.
A visitation will be held for Tom on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Benito Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel, 1050 Cayuga St. in Santa Cruz from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Pacific Gardens Chapel on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 10:00 am. Interment will be at San Joaquin National Cemetery.
