Tom passed away on July 29, 2012 at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Hutchinson, Kansas, spent his early years in Hawaii and grew up in Cupertino, CA. He met and married his wife Kathy in 1967 and moved to Scotts Valley in 1968 where they had a son, Jim. In 1978 Tom and his family moved to Corralitos, where they raised their son and Tom spent the rest of his life. He spent many hours sitting out by the pond watching and feeding his Koi that he had named. Tom worked for PG&E for 31 years as a Lineman and Troubleman. Upon his retirement, he obtained a contractor's license and started a business with his wife, Kathy's Lift Truck & Lighting Service. Tom was very proud of his company and the customers he served. He made many new friends as a contractor and was a valuable asset to his customers. He loved traveling in his Corvette when he was young and going on cruises later in life. Tom and Kathy went on many cruises all over the world. His favorite destination was Tahiti. Tom was involved with the Santa Cruz Corvette Club for many years, participating in auto crossing, drag racing, rallying, and car shows with his 1966 Corvette. He was proud of his car that he bought new and did much of the work on it with his family and friends. His family meant the world to him.
He is survived by his wife Kathy; mother, Mary; son, Jim; granddaughters, Rowan, Cassidy, and Kailey; grandson, Dustin; uncle, Tom Cooper; and cousins, Mary and Walt.
Tom's Memorial service will be held outdoors under the Redwoods at the Estrada Deer Camp on Hazel Dell Rd. in Corralitos on Sept. 8th at 1 p.m. During the memorial we welcome you to share your stories and memories of Tom. Arrangements were entrust to Mehl's Colonial Chapel, Watsonville.
