Todd Michael Eckhardt's extraordinary life ended in his forty-sixth year. Todd was born on October 22, 1963 in Redwood City, California and died on May 13, 2010 in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
He was lovingly raised by his parents, Leland and Barbara Wielt Eckhardt, and adored by his "big brothers" Dennis and Terry. Todd's elementary school years were in Redwood City, his secondary schools were in Paradise, Ca., and he received a bachelor's degree in wildlife management from Humboldt State College in 1986.
Todd followed his love of wildlife and hunting into a career that brought him many rewards. He dedicated himself to wildlife conservation, he traveled extensively, had many trophy experiences, fulfilled many dreams, married the love of his life, enjoyed his friends and his family, inspired many, and fought courageously against cancer. He was lucky enough to know the beauty, productivity, variety and spirituality of nature. He knew habitats from the ocean's floor to the mountain's peaks, from tropical islands to arctic glacial moraines. He knew birds and beasts and their wonder.
Todd was preceded in death by his father, Leland Echardt and his brother Dennis Eckhardt. He is survived by his wife, Karen Tanaka-Eckhardt of Klamath Falls, Oregon; his mother Barbara Eckhardt of Miwok, California; his brother and sister-in-law Terry and Cathleen Eckhardt of Soquel, California; his nephew Leon Eckhardt; and nieces Andrea and Amelia Eckhardt.
