Tony Curci
10-3-1918 to 7-23-2014
Santa Cruz
Tony passed away peacefully in his home with his daughter present.
He met his passing as he lived his life in his practical wise and no nonsense way
His feeling was everything in its time and at 95 years of age it was his time fully ready for what was to come next.
Tony was born and raised in San Jose California with 7 siblings. In his teens his family moved to San Francisco where he met his wife of 64 years Ethel Irene Allen, who preceded him in death in 2007.
Tony was not only a personal treasure but America has lost a national treasure as well. One of his experiences in officer cadet training was flying gliders. He trained with many aircraft in preparation for service in WWII. His favorite was the B-25; he was assigned to the South Pacific where he completed 13 missions in the B-25, his plane was the French Kiss . At the end of WWII he remained in the army air corp reserve until 1957.
In 1949 Tony and his wife and daughter moved to Santa Cruz where they owned and operated the Merry-Go-round restaurant with his brother Nick Di Napoli until 1966. He then own and operate Curci's restaurant in Scotts Valley with his brother Rocci Curci.
Retiring in 1980, he enjoyed golfing, trips to Reno and Lake Tahoe with his wife Ethel, loved tending to his garden daily and enjoyed sitting in his yard regaling family and friends with stories of his flying days and experience as a pilot. His passion for flying was great and he enjoyed owning a small plane at Scotts Valley airport.
Tony will be remembered for his quiet wisdom and practical way of facing life. His dry but witty sense of humor was as good as his cooking.
Tony is survived by his daughter Toni Leslie and dog Kayla and many nieces and nephews.
At Tony's request no services will be held at this time.
