Rose Barbato passed away peacefully on August 22nd at age 94. Born in Chicago, IL, Rose was fun-loving and enjoyed being with friends and going to Polish polka dances in her younger years. She worked in several manufacturing companies including defense/war plants and was known as "Rosie the Riveter" when assembling torpedoes during WWII. After the war she worked as a long distance operator, and then at Ford Motor Company, meeting her future husband Alfred Barbato. They married in 1953 and had their only child, Theresa. The family moved to Arizona for a few years, then to San Diego for several more years, then settled in San Jose in 1969. Rose enjoyed cooking, the company of family and friends, and watching baseball with her son-in-law Chet. As Rose developed Dementia, she found a loving home at Sunshine Villa, where the staff took wonderful care of her.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, and her brothers Mike, Frank, and Harry. She is survived by her daughter Theresa and son-in-law Chet, and several nephews and nieces. Graveside services will be held at Lima Family Mortuary/Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Fremont on August 31st at 11:00 a.m. Donations in Rose's name may be made to the .
