Lois H. Cattera passed away of natural causes at a local convalescent hospital on March 11, 2014. She was 93. She was born on January 31, 1921 in Lacrosse, Wisconsin, the daughter of Frank and Hazel Goyette. Her family moved to Felton when Lois was a small child. She grew up in the San Lorenzo Valley and Santa Cruz and was a graduate of Santa Cruz High School. In her younger years she worked as a bookkeeper of A.K. Salz Tannery. She married Albino Cattera in October of 1941 in Virginia City, Nevada. After marrying she spent her time making a home for her husband and three children.
Lois was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church where she regularly attended Mass. She was a Cub Scout Denmother for all of her three sons. She enjoyed playing Bridge and was a loyal San Francisco Giants fan.
She is survived by her sons, Robert Cattera and his wife, Gail Gray of North Carolina and Mark Cattera of Santa Cruz. She is also survived by three grandchildren, two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her son, Timothy in 1982, her husband Albino in 1988 and her four sisters, Imogene, Margaret, Dorothy and Wilma.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 515 Frederick St., Santa Cruz, CA on Wednesday March 19, 2014 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 2271 7th Ave., Santa Cruz, CA . Please visit www.pacificgardenschapel.com to light a candle or express your condolences to Lois' family.
