Richard Stewart Bray, 85, of Scotts Valley, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2014 of a long illness.
Richard was born in Monterey Park, California, to the late Eben and Eulalie Bray. He graduated from Alhambra High School in 1947 and served in the US Marines during the Korean War as a motorpool mechanic and truck driver. He married the late Joyce Fay Bray in 1951 and moved to Soquel, California in 1955 to work for his uncle at Stewart Engineering. He moved to Scotts Valley in 1960 where he was a resident for 54 years.
Richard loved trout fishing and family camping trips. When he retired from Kevex Tube Division, he and his wife traveled to New Zealand and Fiji for a trip of a lifetime. Richard was a wonderful husband and dedicated family man, always supportive of his wife and children in anything they chose to do.
Richard is survived by his three children and their spouses: Deborah Vairetta of Scotts Valley, Jeanette and Larry Roland of Santa Cruz, and Randall Bray and Cynthia Crocetta of Scotts Valley. He is also survived by three grandchildren and their spouses: Eric Roland, Cheyenneh Scoffone and Comal Zoreque Diaz, and Corinne Roland-Moore and Damian Moore; and three great-grandchildren: Elin, Parker and Avier. Richard is also survived by his sister, Marjorie Harren of Silver City, New Mexico.
Richard chose not to have a service and will be lovingly remembered during a private family get-together.
