Doris Evelyn Le Barre Obituary
Doris Evelyn Goodenough Le Barre
Dec. 27, 1922–June 25, 2014
Resident of Watsonville
Doris Evelyn Le Barre, 91 years old, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2014
after a brief illness. She leaves her children; Michael, Rose Mary, Christopher, Joe, Judy, Rita, Frances, Margaret, Paul, John and Tony and her 31 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren as well as her sister, Daphne and her nieces in England, all who loved her very much.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Le Barre and two of her children, Phillip and Teresa Le Barre. Doris loved life and every child that she encountered. She was a loving and loved mother and wife, and a beloved grandmother.
She was born and raised in Wallingford, England where she met and married her husband, Charles, during World War II. She arrived in Watsonville in 1948 and made a wonderful life for her husband and children. She was a devout parishioner at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Watsonville and enjoyed greeting her friends every Sunday. She was a stay at home mom but in her later years she volunteered as a yard duty person at Moreland Notre Dame Catholic School in Watsonville where all of her children and some of her grandchildren attended.
Up until she passed away she baked pies, treats and cookies for family, friends, and their pets. She loved her dogs, especially her constant companion, Tupper. She has always recycled even before we knew it was good for our planet and believed in giving a helping hand to all. She will be missed.
A rosary, followed by a memorial mass and interment will begin at 10:00 a.m. on
Monday, July 21, 2014 at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church (the Valley Church) located at 2401 E Lake Ave, Watsonville, CA 95076. Mehl's Colonial Chapel was entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Moreland Notre Dame or Our Lady
Help of Christians Catholic Church.
