Services will be held in Santa Cruz on August 16th for Dr. Evan Tarsky who died unexpectedly on August 2, 2008 in the Los Gatos Hills following a wonderful evening spent with his beloved wife. The couple had just attended a concert at the Santa Cruz Mountain Winery when he collapsed. He was 61 years old.
Born in Dayton, Ohio, Dr. Tarsky graduated from Wright State University, got his pre-med education at U.C.L.A. and earned his podiatric degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. His podiatry practice spanned over 30 years.
His dedication to his patients and love for his family were of paramount importance in his life. His practice was like a trip through the past, as if being attended by a country doctor. More than 90% of his patients were house calls. His family often noticed that if the good doctor's fees for services rendered could not be paid by the patient, he often accepted most anything as payment, including produce and poultry.
He had a passion for golf; playing regularly at De La Veaga Golf Course. He also appreciated music, and for 20 years, without fail, attended the Strawberry Music Festival, where he was a member of "Camp Howdy" and recently worked as a greeter at the front gate.
Dr. Tarsky is survived by his wife of 38 years, Linda Tarsky of Watsonville, his son, Daniel Tarsky of Live Oak, his daughter, Michelle Crews of Merced, and a sister Eileen Andersen of Bellingham, WA. He also leaves his four loving grandchildren, Nick, Codee, Chloe, Andrew, and his great grandson, Aidan. He also leaves behind his two loving uncles Harry and Joe Tarsky. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel, beginning at 2 p.m.
After the service, all are welcome to attend a potluck reception at 125 Hope Drive in Watsonville.
Remembrances in Dr. Tarsky's name may be made to Jacob's Heart Children's Cancer Association or the Long Term Care Ombudsman program which advocates for patients in Nursing Homes.
