Wesley Monroe Jenkins Nov. 2, 1934 - Feb. 28, 2014 Resident of Bonny Doon Wesley Monroe Jenkins passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, February 28, 2014. He was 79. He had been ill for several years with kidney complications. He was born in Ducor, CA on Nov. 2, 1934. He is preceded by his sister Lola Clark of Montana and brother Bennie Jenkins, who was killed while serving in the Marines in WWII. His sister Elaine resides in Minnesota. Wes moved to Santa Cruz as a young boy in 1944 and has lived here most of his life. He attended Branciforte Elementary, Mission Hill and Santa Cruz High. He served in the Air Force in Korea. Upon returning he settled in Moss Landing for a short time. He then married in 1958 to Frances. They were married for 54 years. Together they had six children. Cathie Jenkins of Bonny Doon, Vicki Egan (Mark) of Aptos, Stephanie Jessen (Daryl) of Bonny Doon, Kirk Jenkins (Margo) of Corning, Ben Jenkins (Cindy) of Maui and Brad Jenkins (Linda) of San Jose. Also 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and many, nieces and nephews. He enjoyed war history, westerns and Native American history. Wes worked as a roofer for many years until hired with the U.S. Post Office. He retired in 1994. Wes, was a loving husband and father and a gentle soul. He never spoke bad about anyone. He will be missed dearly. The family would like to thank Hospice of Santa Cruz for their support at this difficult time. Private services will be held for the family on March 22, 2014 at 11:00. Flowers may be send to the Moss Landing Cemetery at 8442 Moss Landing Rd., Moss Landing.
