I was very saddened to hear of Tony's passing. He and I shared an apartment in Montreal where he was a medical student - two, in fact, one a second floor apartment in Notre Dame de Grâce, the other on Durocher in the student quarter. I remember him skateboarding at all times of the day (and night) as referred to by Louisa below, also his encounter with a car! He was an accomplished carpenter and the various articles he made filled both apartments, which as they were unfurnished, was just as well! The photo below was taken in the flat on Durocher in 1975, the furniture on the left of the photo one of Tony's accomplished designs. I lost touch with him when I returned to the UK in 1978. I'm sure, though, he was a wonderful family physician, and I'm so glad he found his vocation in being one.

Tony was a great friend during the mid 1970s and my next door neighbor in Montreal. We traveled cross the continent Montréal to California a few times. I skateboarded occasionally with Tony and his med school mates and we cooked dinner together a few times. He taught me how to make a bechemel sauce and not to fear adding more garlic to Italian dishes.
Last time I saw him was 1983 in his garage in the Santa Cruz area looking at a surfboard he made.
Today is his birthday August 1 --and I had flashing thought to search his name just because ... only to discover he has moved out of the land of the living. That is indeed a shock.
I send condolences to Susan his mother--we met in a Mount Royal hospital room where Tony was recovering from a ruptured spleen from a skateboard crash encounter with a car. I have a few photos from our road trips back in the mid-1970s.
With Aloha and condolences to Tony's daughters and other members of the family.

Our family loved Dr.Tyler and his staff. He took care of us for 30 years. Even after moving to Idaho he was still my Doctor! He will be hard to replace because of all of his natural care and love he gave to his patients. I worked with him in a nursing home one day and he displayed a side of himself I hadn't seen. He made every elderly person he saw that day feel like they were the only one he came to see. He was their friend not just "the Doctor". Our love and prayers go out to his family. May his memory be eternal.

My sincere condolences to Dr Tyler's family. Dr Tyler was my personal doctor immediately upon opening his practice in Felton. We became very good friends. He was my confidant as I was able to discuss all matters. He was very kind and factual and I trusted him explicitly. He will be sorely missed. I mourn Dr Tyler's untimely demise.

We're so sad to hear about Dr. Tyler's passing and will miss him very much. He was always decent and kind to our family, there when we needed him, calm and reassuring when we feared for our sick or bloody kids. He treated us with dignity, never made us feel like we were wasting his time. He gave the treatment we needed, not more, not less. He employed kind, competent people like himself. When we called, they knew us like family. Sadly, you don't find doctors like that very often. Dr. Tyler was a class act.

Dr. Tyler was my family doctor for 34 years. I was shocked to learn of his passing, and I will miss my twice a year checkups with him very much. And, now who is going to clear all that hardened earwax out every few years so that I can hear again?
I was a stubborn patient about some things over the years, but I appreciate Dr. Tyler working with me as I tried to deal with a situation or condition my own "natural" way first before usually agreeing to his suggested course of treatment. It probably helped that I would bring a bottle or two of my homemade wine to each office visit over the many years...
Thanks for everything, Dr. T!
