It's been 7 years since Our dear Father Peter went home to the Lord. We got to know and love Father very well. He was always there for our family and I feel confident to say we were there for him at times when he needed the support. Here is a picture of Father Peter and Marissa. He still had his beautiful red convertible at this time. Father Peter I know you are watching down from Heaven and praying for us. Love and miss you.

Soon after i arrived in S.C. i quickly recognized the need of people in the area for spiritual substance as well as things physical subtance to sustain ~ i heard of young man (older than i) bringing an old panel truck to the San Lorenzo river bank feeding the homeless and poor of money and spirit. (`81-82´)
I met Peter and instantly started helping him. I baught a small car and used it to bring collected foods in large quantities to him and to the clock tower and when he asked if i could help organize regular deliveries i was in joy with him.
In those years (early 20s) i learned more about how to be a better human by Peter´s relentless compassion and wisdom of the heart.
Now that i have begun to truly wake up in Christ i begin to see what Peter was seeing,..
..and i pray to move with anywhere near the strength and beauty and commpasion that Fr. Peter (Peter) moved with on this earth..
Found memories of the `83´ lightening storm that knocked out power and Peter had No fear in him at all ! and everyone who had been standing near him had wanted him to put his arms around them just as he had done with a hand full of small children at his side.
His gentle hugging voice, his hugs, his loving spirit always with me.
Always in my heart Peter, luv U.
If lord Yeshuah and Hashem should find me and gift me with this great love may we meet again in The heavenly plane.
Hashem here my plea. Amen

I worked with Peter at the Saint Francis Soup Kitchen for two years, and they were the two best years of my life. I learned so much more about God than I knew about Him when I first arrived to feed the homeless. Peter was a Godly and kind hearted man. I only wish that I had been able to say goodbye to Peter in this world, but I know I will see him in the next. God bless and love you Peter.

It was many years after I knew Peter Carota as a neighbor in Aptos CA in the late 1970s that I came to know and love the above quotes. I love them because they finally put words to the faith that had grown in me as a direct result of Peter's influence. Even as a young teen, I knew that faith in God had to be more than "Churchianity" if it was going to be real. I was blessed to attend a like-minded church and remember raising funds for Birthright, hosting speakers from Amnesty International, and other activities that opened my mind and heart to a world full of not just souls, but bodies that also needed to know the love of Jesus. Peter was one of the people who showed me how to spread the Gospel by meeting practical needs -- food, shelter, compassion. He put a picture to the words "Make me an instrument of Thy peace."
Several years ago, I happened to meet Peter's brother Joseph at a homeless ministry event. I was delighted to hear that Peter, who had been so passionate and happy about pursuing the priesthood, was now Father Peter, and had had such a long and productive ministry in his various churches. When I found he was now pastor at St. Patrick's Church in Modesto (I think?), I knew I had to write him a letter to tell him this, and thank him for being such an inspiration to me. But as so often happens, weeks went by, then months and years, and I kept meaning to write...but never writing. Today I searched for him on Google so I could finally send him his long overdue thanks, only to find out that it is too late to do so in this world. My heart is heavy, but my condolence is that I will be able to tell him all this in another, better one.

I feel fortunate to have known Father Peter while a priest at St. Jude's parish and am saddened by his death, however, joyous that he is now rejoicing in Heaven. Father Peter , thank you for sponsoring us for the Journey in Christianity retreat. The retreat deepened my faith and I am truly grateful for the opportunity of meeting the most wonderful peoplebrothers and sisters in Christ. My condolences to Father Peter's family and to his church family. He was a great priest and would light up when speaking of The Blessed Mother whom he loved and adored. I can only imagine that she took him by the hand and brought him home to Her son. Father Peter is finally at peace and no longer suffering. Let us continue his legacy of charity and mercy.

I was blessed to be a parishioner at St.Jude's in Ceres when Fr. Peter was there. We all- especially the young- loved Fr. Peter. There are not enough words to describe the impact he had on us there. If God made a model of what a priest should be it would be Fr. Peter. Rest In Peace, beloved Father Peter. We will miss you, but we can take comfort in knowing you truly were a man of God on earth and now enjoy your heavenly reward.
