Barbara Grace Raznick

BARBARA GRACE RAZNICK Barbara Grace Raznick passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 18. She was surrounded by family and a dear lifelong friend. Born in Detroit, Michigan to Sydney and Mae Goodfriend on February 24, 1945, Barbara attended Michigan State University and was a Jr. High teacher following her graduation. After college she married her High School sweetheart, Fred, and became a mother to Jennifer and Ben. During her children's early years Barbara focused on their upbringing while staying active in her own personal interests. Barbara fell in love with the desert southwest during a family vacation and the family moved to Santa Fe in 1978. Barbara began working at Rational Alternatives, which was the beginning of El Dorado at Santa Fe becoming the largest solar community in the United States. Later, along with two friends, opened El Dorado Ice Cream and Supply, an all-around general store located next to the community center. Later, with her brother, she opened E.K. Mas, a successful restaurant in Santa Fe. Barbara loved traveling to Hawaii and Yosemite. She was passionate about equal rights for all people and longed for a peaceful world. In her later years she found great joy from her Grandchildren and her beautiful surroundings; the blue sky, trees and mountains. She is survived by her husband Fred; her father Sydney; her children Jennifer and Bill LeGrand and Ben and Maggie Raznick ; Grandchildren Carlo Ortiz, Dejah Raznick and Zachary LeGrand, her brother Robert Goodfriend and her sister Joanie Goodfriend. Barbara is also loved and remembered by many friends and extended family. A memorial service followed with a meal of condolence celebrating Barbara's life will be held at 4:30pm this Sunday, February 22, at Temple Beth Shalom, 205 E. Barcelona Road, Santa Fe NM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Elizabeth's Shelter, IMPACT Personal Safety, or the charity of your choice.
