JOYCE MARIE SMITH Age 83, a resident of Los Alamos, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 5, 2012 at Sombrillo Nursing Home in Los Alamos after a long struggle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd E. Smith, Jr. of Los Alamos; parents, Martin Ernst Zoch and Mary Bertha Lloyd Zoch of Houston, Texas. Mrs. Smith is survived by her brother, Martin Zoch and wife Mary of Houston, Texas; son, David L. Smith and wife Leni of Los Alamos; daughter, Janet M. Holmes of Bakersfield, CA; granddaughters, Taylor Gonzales and husband, Robert, of Albuquerque, Chelsea Lucas and husband, Steven, of Golden, CO, Kati Bono and husband, Alex, of Bakersfield, CA; great-grandchildren, Sofia and Sullivan Gonzales of Albuquerque; nephew, Wayne Smith and wife, Margie, of Montgomery, Alabama; and her many brothers and sisters in her spiritual family. She was born in Houston, Texas on January 16, 1929. She graduated from the University of Houston in 1949. She was married to her sweetheart, Lloyd E. Smith, Jr. for 54 years. Together they moved to Los Alamos in 1967 and made it their home as they loved the beauty of the area. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and off-roading with her husband, Lloyd, and many friends. Being a faithful Jehovah's Witness, she enjoyed sharing her faith of a coming paradise earth under Christ's Kingdom with many others in her lifetime. Her family sincerely appreciates the loving care she received from the entire Sombrillo nursing staff. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, located at 4542 Yucca in Los Alamos.
