Valencia, Antonia M.
ANTONIA M. VALENCIA JULY/26/1925 - 2/20/2015 Antonia passed away after a lengthy illness, she was a mother of 12 children, and devoted wife to Agapito Valencia for nearly 69 years. He would tell us that she was his reason for living, and that she was the love of his life. We knew her as a great cook; a social and knowledgeable person. She enjoyed church, game shows, and music. She had artistic talents and was a kind and gentle person. She loved all her children, Bernadette, Roderick, Patricia, Joseph, William, Georgia, Elena, Geraldine, Lucinda, Ursula, Michael, John, and was blessed to have many grandchildren and great grandchildren; too numerous to name. Her brothers and sisters, Jose, Ross, Juanito, Grace Duran, and Paul Martinez who preceded her in death, and to Aunt Stella and Uncle Ted as well as his wife, Ursula (Lita) Martinez who are still with us. It was my uncle Ted that would make her days bright with perspective and caring, and with the laughter they shared as brother and sister. My mother was fallible at times, and she wasn't perfect. However, she was generous person. Generous to a fault and exploited as a result. I would like to thank the district attorney's office (Mrs. Quintana), the Sheriff's Department (Joe Vigil), Adult Protections (Mrs. Turner and Mrs. Gonzales), as well as the NM State Police for assisting us in protecting my parents in their most critical time of need. Thanks to all the staff at the Santa Fe Care Center; for those that were intimately involved in my mother's caretaking, for doing her hair, painting her nails, and for treating her with dignity. As well as the hospice staff from Del Corazon. Lisa Gonzales, who has served as care taker for my parents for the better part of three years. Robert and Berna Baca for providing weekly at home religious services. As well as her friends who called to check in on her (Cora Ruiz, Annabel Keller). To our extended family, Frank (Pancho) and Diana Sena. Father Vincent Dominguez, and Suzette Archuleta. Dr. Mark G. Seredowych. Thank you all, on behalf of my mother. As the primary caretaker for my parents, I could not have done it on my own. I would like to thank my two sisters: Georgia Urban and Elena Segura. Georgia has remained devoted to the wellbeing of my parents. She bathed our mother, fed her, and made her laugh, but most importantly, she was my moral compass. Elena Segura stepped in when times were dire for my parents, reconnecting with our mother, ensuring that they had what needed. She was their eyes when they could not see; she has been their advocate and defender. Special thanks you to Mike Segura, who visited his grandmother on a daily basis. Thank you to my family, Casandra, Marco, and Sylvio for dealing with our sacrifices, while caretaking for my parents. Thank you to the 210th REDHORSE, and my HP team. Finally, to my Mom, I'll make sure my Pops is ready to join you when his day comes. He will surely miss you. You were his soul mate and his best friend. Rest assured, he will be safe and not alone. I have no regrets in defending you, and you know I have never cowered from that responsibility. It was a fruitful and learning experience, and we will miss you and love you always. Please pass our regards to Mike (2/20/1981) and Lucinda (4/29/1974) who are waiting for you there on the other side. Sincerely, your son, John A. Valencia Memorial/Joint Services will be held at a later date.
