ALLEN ROBERT PAXTON

ALLEN ROBERT PAXTON "SARGE" Age 63 died after a short illness on November 22, in Woodland surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Woodland on June 2, 1949 to Betty and Carl Paxton. He was preceded in death by his son, Phillip Allen Paxton, both of his parents and his beloved step-father Bill Brady, his younger brother Billy, brothers-in-law Donald Lara, Richard Marin, and John Flores, and his nephew Nick Marin. Allen was a highly decorated United States Army Veteran, earning a Silver Star, Soldier's Medal, Bronze Star with V Device, Purple Heart, Air Medal, and many other decorations during his time in the Army and his two tours of Vietnam. He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Paxton and her mother MaryAnn Flores, his loving sisters Winona Lara, Linda Marin, Vicky Trillo (Carlos), Debbie Tharp (Bill), and their respective families, his best friend Roger Smith, and his extended New Mexico family, Tom (Beth), Martin (MaryEllen) and Ray Flores, and Tony Armijo (Ruth). The greatest pride of his last years was his grandson, Santiago Paxton Pacheco. Allen enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and socializing with his numerous friends in Knights Landing. On December 21, 2012, at 3:00 pm, he will be laid to rest next to his son. Internment will take place with full military honors at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in New Mexico. Serving as honorary pallbearers are his nephews: Tony Armijo Jr., Don Lara Jr., Jonathon Trillo, and Derrick, Billy, and Brady Tharp.
