Darci Anne Burson

Darci Anne Burson June 3, 1967 - September 5, 2012 Darci was born and raised in Houma, Louisiana where she was introduced to the rich and vibrant culture offered from this great region. Darci loved and embraced the music, the food, the outdoors, the Saints, and above all else, the people. Early on she learned the gift of giving and her great love and compassion by volunteering for various charitable organizations. While attending Terrebonne High School she volunteered much of her time working with abused children. At the University of Southwestern Louisiana she continued her passion for volunteering by working with mentally handicapped adults. After college she moved to Jackson Hole, Wyoming where she immersed herself in the beauty of the outdoors and continued this appreciation of nature for the rest her of her life. She became an avid hiker and skier and whether the goal was climbing the high summit, or just enjoying the beauty of the mountains with friends, her love for people always shined through. Another great passion she held close to her heart was the talent and love of cooking and entertaining friends at her home. During her early years in Jackson, Darci began her 20 year career in Real Estate. Initially she worked as a realtor and eventually moved into management which led her to Santa Fe in 2004. For 7 years she served as the Sotheby's Qualifying Broker/VP. During this time she had the painful responsibility of closing 5 offices in order to keep the company viable and strong in the down market. This heartbreaking experience took a heavy toll on Darci, knowing how many people were hurt in the process. She later took a position at Keller Williams Realty as Team Leader/Qualifying Broker. As a loving partner, daughter, sister, aunt or friend, her love and compassion for others created a lasting bond with all who knew her. Darci was loved and adored by many and will be missed. Her nephews and niece fondly called her "Goose" because she was so silly with them and they loved it. Darci is survived by her partner; Liz Sheffield and their two beloved dogs, Stella and Roux, Parents; Jerry and Nancy Burson, Brother Joseph Burson, and wife Jennifer, Sister Carrie Hurley and husband, Jeff; and Nieces and Nephews; Bennett, Hogan, Annie, Ames and Minnie.
