JOHN CHARLES DAW A gentle, brave soul, lost his valiant battle with ALS, Lou Gehrig 's disease, on Wednesday February 27, 2013. This horrific disease took his life, but did not defeat his spirit. John was born April 21, 1952 in Santa Rosa, California to Denman Carl Daw and Beverly Barnes Daw. He received a Bachelor's Degree, magna cum laude, in Human Development from California State University, Hayward, and a Master's Degree in Social Welfare from University of California, Berkeley. John believed that life was not a dress rehearsal, and as opportunities presented themselves, always gave his best effort to find out what he could learn and achieve, including his spiritual journey. His career included co-owning a catering business; cooking in private homes as he worked his way through the university and graduate school; managing social and health care programs in the San Francisco Bay Area; co-owning and operating a bed and breakfast inn in Santa Fe, NM; and several fulfilling years as a certified personal trainer in Santa Fe. His most rewarding jobs included working for Mother Teresa's Missionary Brothers of Charity running an AIDS services program in the inner city of Oakland, CA; and his personal training business in Santa Fe. His last position was with LIFE Senior Services as manager of their Broken Arrow facility. He is survived by his loving partner, Doug Campbell; beloved best friend, Shirlee Harris and his cherished god-daughters Nathalie and Genevieve of California; spiritual cheerleader and co- pilgrim, Cindy Henry of Tulsa; two wonderful brothers, Jerry and Jim, and their families in Santa Rosa, CA and his angelic caregivers including Juanita and Brandi Jo. John's life was blessed with warm friendships wherever he lived, and he felt especially rewarded with loving friends in Santa Fe and Tulsa. "...as if he didn't know he loved the world so much, he wanted to stay forever."
