Virginia Montoya Mays

VIRGINIA MONTOYA MAYS FEBRUARY 5, 2013 78, of Santa Fe, NM, returned to her Heavenly Home on February 5, 2013 in Houston, TX after a valiant struggle to recover from surgery. Virginia was surrounded by family as she peacefully passed on. She was preceded in death by her parents Eduardo and Servana Montoya, her brothers Ed Montoya Jr. and Faustin (Huero) Montoya, and her son William (Bill) Mays. She is survived by her children: Patricia Mays, Charles (Bob) Mays (wife Sandra Ulibarri-Mays), and Teresa (Terri) Mays-Chagoya all of Santa Fe, and Edward (Ed) Mays of Puyallup, WA; daughter-in-law: Cam Nguyen (husband Bill-deceased); grandchildren: Samantha Mays-Miranda (husband Ivan Miranda), Deanna Mays-Levengood, Ariel Aragon, Vanessa Whitehorse, Hoa Tran Mays, Michelle Mays, Joey Bernal, Briana Bernal, Shanya Whitehorse, Charles Mays, and Graciela (Gracie) Mays; great-grandson: Ziinos Miranda; sisters: Juanita Montoya and Kathy Padilla; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Virginia was a Registered Nurse for over 50 years. She worked for 27 years at the Santa Fe Indian Hospital and 8 years at the Santa Fe Public Health Office. Virginia loved helping and caring for others as was evident by her loving, caring, compassionate, and forgiving nature. She was very generous with her time and talents. The family invites you to join them at mass on March 11, 2013 at 5:15 pm at St. Francis Cathedral Basilica, Santa Fe, NM. A memorial celebrating the richness of her life will be held on March 16, 2013 from 1 to 5 pm at The Fraternal Order of Eagles (F.O.E) 833 Early St., Santa Fe, NM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the or the Nightingale Scholarship Program.
