CHRISTINE M. FLINT Christine M. Flint died September 24, 2016. Chris was born in Etna Green, Indiana on April Fool's Day, 1932. She was raised in a small town, by a devoted family, and moved out into the larger world after graduating from Indiana University with double majors in Spanish and English. Her new life started in Albuquerque, where she moved to begin her teaching career in the city's public school system. It was only weeks later that she met her future husband, F. Harlan Flint. He had just returned to New Mexico following three years in the Army. Their introduction happened at the Triangle Bar, a University hangout, where she and her sister had gone to recover from their first Parent-Teacher meeting at the school where they both taught. Chris helped put her husband through Law School at UNM and supported him in many ways as they launched off on their shared journey to Santa Fe, Anchorage, Alaska, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Cleveland, Ohio before returning home again to Santa Fe. In addition to her husband, Chris leaves three amazing children; Christine Elizabeth (Tina) Smith, Harlan Myles Flint, and Mason Iden Flint; and six above average grandchildren. It's hard to encapsulate any person in a few words and Chris is no exception. She may have appeared to be a gentle, modest woman in some ways but behind that misleading fa‡ade she was a tough, tenacious fighter for her children, her family, and for other things that were important to her. She served on the state boards of the League of Woman Voters both in Alaska and Ohio. She was interested and active in politics wherever she lived and had strong opinions that she was happy to share. She fought for her children when they were young and taught them much about how to live adventurous and satisfying lives. In her last years she had to fight the destructive and diminishing ravages of Alzheimer 's disease and she gave it her best effort, never giving in to it until the very end. A celebration of Chris's life will be announced in coming weeks. Rivera Family Funerals and Cremations 417 East Rodeo Rd. Santa Fe, NM 87505 Phone: (505) 989-7032
