Daisy Neal Rice Age 85, of Las Vegas, died Saturday, July 30th. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Q. Rice; parents, John and Gertrude Neal; brothers: John, James, and Harold Neal; and sister, Vesta Hughes. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Rice Beck (Jim) of Santa Fe; son, John M. Rice of Las Vegas; grandsons: John Beck, Andrew Beck (Melissa), of Akron, OH; granddaughter, Vairea Rice Aguilar (AJ) of Las Vegas; sisters: Violet Nead, Mary Gray; and brother, Sherman Neal (Ellie) of Indianapolis, Indiana; brother-in-law, David Rice of Albuquerque; many nieces, nephews, and friends, as well as very special friends Toni Ortega, Sadie Larson, and Yvonne Espinosa. Daisy was born in New Castle, Indiana on November 17, 1925. A woman of great vision and dedication, Daisy taught us that we should do all we can with the gifts that we have and never give up. She was admired and respected by her colleagues and the greater community, and deeply loved by her family and friends. Everyone who knew Daisy was touched by her. She will be truly missed. A Memorial Service for Daisy will be held on Monday, August 8, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 715 National Avenue, Las Vegas, NM with Mr. Kelvin Naef as officiant.
