Dorothy Ulvog Obituary

DOROTHY JEAN ULVOG Services for Dorothy Jean Ulvog, 89, of Longview were at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2008, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home with Joey Mason officiating. Mrs. Ulvog passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at her home. Graveside Services and Burial will be at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe at 10 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2008, under the direction of Berardinelli Funeral Home of Santa Fe with Pastor Douglas Esque officiating. Dorothy was born on August 28, 1918, on a farm near Ewing, Nebraska; the youngest of seven children born to John and Ernestine (Iburg) Christon, all of whom have preceded her in death. She graduated from the Ewing high school and taught in rural schools in the area. She later graduated from the American Business School and was employed by the Bell Telephone Company in Omaha before taking a position as Secretary to the President of the School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City, South Dakota. On August 22, 1948, she married Carl Ulvog who is a graduate of that school. They had three sons: Peter and his wife Terry of Longview, Texas, Paul and his wife Sheila of Buda, Texas, and Eric and his wife Kelly of Groton, South Dakota; and a daughter, Randi Rabbers and her husband Ken of Carmel, Indiana. Since 1948, she and Carl have lived in Midland, Texas, and in Roswell, Santa Fe, and Rio Rancho, New Mexico. The past three years she and Carl have been living in Longview, Texas. She was an excellent typist and secretary, holding many jobs that utilized her skills. She was a member of the Lutheran Church and was active in church activities and Sunday School until her later years. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her daughter, Randi Rabbers, who passed away in 1993. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Carl; three sons: Peter, Paul, and Eric; son-in-law, Ken Rabbers; nine grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
