HENRY LAVELL ALEXANDER Henry Lavell Alexander, 90, resident of Espa¤ola, entered into rest on Monday, July 21, 2014 following a prolonged illness. He was born on a farm in Kress, TX on March 29, 1924. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Nellie Alexander and sister Helen. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy Alexander; brother, Clyde Alexander; brother, Charles W. Alexander; daughter, Mary Ann MacErnie and husband Floyd; son, Dr. Lonnie David Alexander and wife Karen; daughter, Alice Faye Edwards and husband Ronny; daughter, Patricia Louise Roybal and husband Freddy and grandchildren, David Bustos, Daniel and Michaela Alexander, Ginger Stockton and Clint Edwards and Felipe and Ronald Roybal; 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Henry served his country in the Army during WWII in the South Pacific, Philippines and Japan. When he returned to the states he was stationed in Los Alamos, where he met and married his wife Dorothy. Soon after, he moved his family to Espa¤ola, and there he built a home and they raised their children. For over 30 years he served as a fireman for the Los Alamos Fire Department. In 1969 he and his family would go on to run the Del Norte Truck Stop Cafe in Pojoaque. Some of his greatest joys were working on his orchard and garden, making home-made ice-cream, fishing, teasing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and showing compassion for animals. He will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank Ambercare Hospice staff for their support and care during his illness. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 28, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a burial to follow at 2:15 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
