MARY ANNE KENNY Mary Anne Kenny, a loving wife, mother, nana, sister and friend passed away Friday, November 30, 2012 at the age of 75. She left this world peacefully, surrounded by her caring family. Born in New York, NY as Mary Anne Eidenbach, she was raised in Larchmont, NY and spent the summers of her youth in Haines Falls, NY. She attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart, Greenwich, CT and Manhattanville College, Purchase, NY where she earned a B.A. in Biology. Mary Anne met the love of her life, John P. Kenny, on the ski slopes of Stowe, VT. She left her job as a research editor for Woman's Day Magazine in New York to marry him and move to Vermont. They lived in Idaho, California, North Dakota, and Virginia before moving their family to Santa Fe, NM in 1980. She had a career with the Sangre de Cristo Girl Scout Council for 19 years where she was the Director of Volunteer Development. Ever a tireless volunteer herself, she was involved with numerous organizations including the Spanish Colonial Arts Society, New Mexico Child Abuse and Neglect Citizen Review Board, Eldorado Community Improvement Association, Prevention of Child Abuse Council, United Way of Santa Fe County, and the Boy Scouts of America. She was a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of the United States of America. Mary Anne lived a life of service and was devoted to youth. She believed firmly in every child's potential, regardless of circumstances. She mentored numerous children directly and affected the lives of countless more through her passions. She refused to give up on anyone. July 27, 2012 was proclaimed Mary Anne Kenny Day by the Mayor of Santa Fe for her 13 years of involvement with the Spanish Colonial Arts Society, Spanish Market and Youth Market. She was instrumental in establishing the Youth Artist Workday at Spanish Market. Mary Anne is survived by her husband of 47 years, John; son, Sean Kenny and wife Rebecca of Albuquerque; daughter, Megan Kenny of Eliot, ME; daughter, Kellie O'Brien and husband John of Fairbanks, AK; grandson: Ryan Kenny, John and Bridger O'Brien; granddaughter, Molly O'Brien; sisters: Martha Delhagen and husband Jack of Ft. Meyers, FL and Elizabeth Wirth of Santa Fe; sister-in-law, Margaret Kenny of Burlington, VT; sister-in-law Eileen Gleason and husband Robert of Scituate, MA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, December 8 at noon at the Santuario de Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe (front chapel), 417 Agua Fria St, Santa Fe, NM; 505-983-8863; reception to follow.
