Patricia Martin 11/27/1954 - 11/4/2012 It is with deep sadness that we convey the news of Patricia Martin's passing on Sunday, November 4, 2012. Pat was the former owner and founder of Visions Photo Lab. In February this year due to illness, she left her beloved home in Santa Fe to be closer to family in New Jersey. Her siblings Brian, Eileen, and Mimi are thankful for the time they shared. Her passing at such a young age is heartbreaking. Pat began her professional career in New York City in the 1980's, moving quickly from amateur processing and portrait studios to the photographic department of Time, Inc. She printed memorable works by notable photographers for both Life and TIme Magazines. After vacationing in Santa Fe, Pat fell in love with our culture, landscape, and people. She moved here in 1987. Her life-long passion for the art of photography inspired her to open Visions Photo Lab in 1990. A skilled photographer herself, she championed other photographers' work as a true collaborator. Her generosity engendered an appreciative photographic community. However, Pat's own art form was that of a photographic printer. Like an alchemist, she could shape light with her hands. She had a rare sensitivity that enabled her to print an image with exquisite detail while revealing the photographer's subtle underlying intention within. Fiercely independent, Pat was a consistently involved, loyal, and responsive friend. She recognized the importance of one hand reaching out to another. For her friends, Pat was that hand. Pat's adventurous spirit guided her throughout her life. Abundantly curious and unwaveringly explorative, she never stopped learning. Her extensive research expanded her knowledge of ancient healing wisdom, our current political climate, and "out of the box" thinking. Recognizing the good in everyone and the possibility in everything, she held hope and resilience, secure in her purpose here. Artist, collaborator, comrade, beloved friend, Santa Fe will hold you in our arms always.
