VIVIAN G. "LILY" OLSEN Lily Olsen passed away peacefully at 71 years of age at her home on December 9, 2012 of Leukemia. She was a long-time resident living in Eldorado from 1984 until the present. Lily was born in Canton, Ohio on October 13, 1941. She is proceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Ann Petrison and her brother John Petrison. She is survived by James Olsen, husband of 47 years, son Michael Olsen, daughter Amanda Olsen, her husband, their sons Daniel and Corey, sisters Christine Burroughs and Vicky Lewen and their husbands and sons, sister-in-law Diane Petrison her daughters and sons. Lily graduated from Kent State with a degree in teaching, and the University of Tusla with a degree in nursing and attended the University of Wyoming, where she met her husband. At first Lily worked as a high school teacher in Ohio and Casper, Wyoming. In New Mexico she worked as a Med-Surg. and Psych Nurse. She was on the Chemical Dependency Nursing Board. She and her husband in New Mexico, Texas, Oaklahoma, Wyoming and Alberta, Canada. She is best known for her work as a Psych Nurse, especially her work with troubled teenagers. She was remembered for her kindness and dedication at St. Vincent's, Juvenile Jail, Presbyterian Medical Services and at other facilities within Santa Fe. She liked to hike and camp with her husband in her spare time, and was knowledgeable about native flowers and herbs. She hiked the highest peaks in New Mexico and Colorado and intimately knew many trails in the Sangre de Cristos Mountains. There will be a memorial service for Lily at 2:00pm on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at The Performance Space, adjacent to La Plancha Restaurant. In lieu of flowers she would prefer you make a donation to the Youth Shelter and Family Services Shelter.
