ESTEVAN A. GONZALES Estevan A. Gonzales, 97, passed away on July 14, 2014. He was born to the late Hilario and Ruperta Gonzales in Morley, Colorado, on September 3, 1916. He was preceded in death by his siblings, and grandson, Robert Gonzales. Mr. Gonzales was a long-time member of the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi parish, the Union Protectiva de Santa Fe, and the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, Local #88. He was a long-time employee of the Zia Company and McKee Construction as a master painter. Mr. Gonzales loved spending time with his family and in the outdoors. He was quick with a smile and a helping hand to anyone. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Rosa Alamillo Gonzales and 6 children: Hilario (Julietta), Cipriano (Gloria), Jose (Alicia), Stephen (Priscilla), Rose Marie Gonzales-Nielsen (Jon), and Louie (Lori). 26 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces also survive him. Also surviving him is his sister, Margarita Gonzales. Visitations will be held at Berardinelli Family Funeral Service on Sunday, July 20th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. where a rosary will be recited at 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday July 21, 2014 at 10:00 am at The Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi. Interment will immediately follow at Santa Fe Memorial Gardens on Rodeo Road. Pallbearers are: Stephen T. Gonzales, Karen Aranda, Ruben Gonzales, Ricardo Gonzales, Marisol Gonzales, and Nathan Duval. Honorary pallbearers are Luis Jose Gonzales, Joshua Duval and David Gonzales. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mr. Gonzales' name to the UNM Children's Hospital.
