Ernestine Evans Obituary

Ernestine D. Evans September 5, 1917â€" June 9, 2010 A true New Mexico treasure has gone on to celebrate a new life with family and friends who have passed on before her. She passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 9, at 12:20 p.m. Ernestine lived an amazing, full life, exactly the way that she liked. She has touched so many with her effervescence for life, her grace, her charm, her intelligence and best of all her witty sense of humor. She was a master storyteller, as she had many, and a lover of poetry. She was a social butterfly who loved to travel and loved to laugh. She lived her life to the absolute fullest. We will miss every aspect of her colorful personality and those who had the opportunity to know her are truly blessed. She was a trailblazer, an inspiration to women and a firecracker to the very end. Most of all, she will be deeply missed but, remembered with awe. Per her request, private services have been held. We ask for your thoughts and prayers. But, most importantly, we ask that you celebrate her life with teeth bearing smiles and hardy laughter whenever she crosses your mind. Mom, Grandma, We Love you more than you know, we miss you tremendously and we will cherish you always, Take care of Ernie for us…. Dear Stan and Family. In the early 1960's, your Mom was our landlady while we spent 6 months in Santa Fe, from Buffalo NY. As a young girl, I remember her as a beautiful lady, with the most amazing smile. She and my Mom became close friends while we lived with her and your grandmother became a special friend to myself. She showed me sewing and shared many happy stories. When we moved back to NY, she became my pen pal until her passing. They both especially loved you Stan and always were top most in their thoughts and prayers. Now my prayers are for you, that only joyful memories will keep Ernie and Mrs. Duran alive in your hearts forever.

Ernestine Evans was my mother's best friend in Santa Fe. My mother was Amalia Goler. They traveled together many times and she was a favorite guest in all of our family parties. We loved her humor and energy.
I have lots of pictures of them if anybody will want them.

My dearest Tia Ernie,
I can remember being a kid and watching you and my grandparents living it up. I am so sad that you are gone and I know that my grandma and pompa are too. Stan, I was looking through the obituaries when I saw that your beloved mother passed away. Living in Albuq. I never hear news from Santa Fe...worse yet, I never heard it in the news. Had I known, I would have been at her service. Please accept my belated condolences. Your mom and my mother were such good friends. I treasure the memories of those years. God bless you and your family.

Dear Stan and family,
My deepest sympathy to you and your family.
Ernie was one of a kind. I grew up knowing her. She and
my sister Lucille Trujillo were such good friends. A friend of the family. I was so grateful when she hired me to be her receptionist in 1974. It was a pleasure to work for her. She was a true treasure. She was my maid of honor when I married in 1975. I will always cherish all the memories of that important time of my life. The lunches at Tiny's and of course The Bull Ring.
Ernie, Thanks for the memories. I learned so much from your example and I'm so grateful for having known you and thank you for being a part of my life. You will always have a special place in my heart.

Love

Stan, Linda and Kylene, my heartfelt sympathy to you. Ernestine was my first boss in state government and was a dear friend of my mom and dad's,Carlos and Stella Trujillo. Throughout my life she gave me the best advice a woman to woman could offer and heartfelt support in my political career. I have fond memories of red enchiladas and margaritas at Tiny's. She was a firecracker and that is what I loved about her. My love to her and all of you. Abrazos
