Raul P. Griego, Sr. 1934 - 2011 Raul P. Griego, Sr., beloved husband, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, was received into our Lord's loving arms on November 5, 2011 after a lengthy illness. Raul was born on February 12, 1934 in Santa Fe. After he graduated from Santa Fe High, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country for 4 years. He worked for Borden's Dairy where he retired after 33 years. He was a hard worker and instilled his values of hard work into his children. Raul was a lifetime member of La Union Protectiva. Our father was a family man. He was an avid lover of the outdoors and taught his children to fish, camp, hunt and respect nature. He coached little league for several years, and thru his love of sports, he became an encouragement for his family to participate and continue loving all sports. Dad loved his Raiders and Lobos. He was proceeded in death by his mother, Stella "Nana" Griego Crespin; father & mother-in-law, Ralph & Ruby Ortiz; sister-in-law, Margie Martinez; brothers-in-law: Vincente Montoya, Larry Lujan, Tacho Gonzales, and Ernest Espinosa. He is survived by the love of his life for 54 years, Josefita O. Griego (Honey); children: Bernadette Ortiz (Tom Myers), Raul & Rachael Griego, Thomas & Barbara Griego, Ruby Griego, and Roger Griego; brother, Joe & Rose Griego; fifteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; sisters & brothers-in-law: Tillie Montoya, Sophie Gonzales, Marina Benavidez, Ralph & Josie Ortiz, Joe & Fina Ortiz, Lorrie Lujan, Mary Helen Espinosa, and Melecio Martinez A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 7 p.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, 511 Alicia Street, Santa Fe, NM 87501. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, November 10 at 9 a.m. followed by Interment with full military honors at 10:30 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Larry Ortiz, Jr., Jose Gallegos, Jeremy Griego, Justin Griego, Roger Griego, Jr., and Ian Griego. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe (Benny) Ortiz and all grand & great-grandchildren.
