Otis Bryan Chappell, Jr. Passed away peacefully on New Year's Eve surrounded by his family. He was born on June 13th, 1926 in Nebraska. A sibling of 12, he grew up in a loving home before joining the military. A Veteran of World War II, The Korean War & Vietnam, serving in the Air Force, Navy and Army Air Service. Thereafter he became a proud member of the BPOE, FOP, and VFW. He lived first for his Lord Jesus and secondly for his beloved wife Eula Mae. Married for 58 years, Otis and Eula Mae's wonderful marriage was a testament to true love. An avid musician, there wasn't a stringed instrument Otis couldn't play. His legacy lives on not only in the hearts of all whose lives he touched, but in the melodies of the songs he taught his children and grandchildren. After retiring from military service, he worked for a time with New Mexico Parks and Recreation, later in life he purchased Duffy's Vacuum Center where he enjoyed repairing vacuums and visiting with customers. He is preceded in death by brothers: Doug, Dean, Jimmy and Morris; sisters, Shirley Sutton and Marilyn Bullard; sister-in-law, Cecile Kartas; brother-in-law, Paul Kartas; and nephews, Michael Kartas, and Tom Rolison; brothers-in-law: George Harrelson, Herb Webb and Don Wickstrum. Otis is survived by his wife, Eula Mae; sons: Bryan (JoAnn) and Daniel (Debi); grandchildren: Tammy Peinado (EJ), Danette, Chris, Theresa Anderson (Josh) and Emily; great grandchildren, Jaxen and Julian Peinado; brother, Jerry Chappell (Judy); sisters: Beverly Webb, Carolyn Johnson (Bob), Eileen Harrelson, Joie Wickstrum, Marylou Harris (Odis "Corky"); brothers-in-law: Daniel Lawrence, Frank Lawrence, Pat Brito, Roy Sutton and Duane Bullard. Sisters-in-law: Ione Chappell, LaVonne Chappell, Carole Brito (Bruce), Gloria Brazda (Dave), Flo Rolison (Raliegh); many nieces and nephews; and dear friends: Charles Maxwell (Loretta) and Maxine Sisneros. Memorial service will be held at St. John's United Methodist Church on Friday January 6, 2012, at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
