FRANK BRADFORD SMITH April 26, 1922 - January 21, 2013 Frank was born to Josephine Martin and Frank B. Smith, Sr. in Carlsbad, NM. He attended Carlsbad High School, UNM-Carlsbad, Barstow College, Barstow, CA and UCLA, Los Angeles with a major in business. He served in World War II in the Army Air Corps in Italy and retired as a First Sergeant after 30 years in the regular Army and the New Mexico Army National Guard. He retired from the State of New Mexico in 1987 after serving as the NM State Labor and Industrial Commissioner. He married his high school sweetheart, Christine Philpott June 21, 1947. He was a member of the St. John's United Methodist Church of Santa Fe; he was a lifetime member of the BPOE in Carlsbad, the Masons, the VFW, the American Legion, the PERA and AARP where he volunteered for many years. Frank is survived by his loving wife, Christine; his sister Rose Womack of Truth or Consequences, NM; his sons F. Bradford and wife Kathryn and Chester A. and wife Nona; grandchildren Timothy, Jamie, Rebecca, Frank, Dawn, Pamela and 9 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many other family members and friends. Frank was a kind, caring and loving man who gave back to his fellow men and the world around him. He was a man of great faith and integrity and loved the Lord. Frank was greatly loved and respected and will be missed. On January 30, 2013, a public viewing will be from 12:30 to 1:00 at Berardinelli's Funeral Home on Louisa Street with funeral services to follow at 1:30. Internment with full military honors will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00. Quote from 2 Timothy 4:7, "I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith."
